The Theatre-Museum

The Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres is the artist s own creation, a surreal building topped with giant eggs that he designed to be experienced as a single work of art. Salvador Dali was born in Figueres and is buried beneath its stage, and the museum holds the broadest range of his work anywhere, from early pieces to the optical illusions of his later years. It is the second most visited museum in Spain, so timed entry sells out quickly in high season.

Combining with Cadaques and Port Lligat

From Girona, Figueres is about half an hour by train, and many guided day trips combine the museum with Dali s seaside house in Port Lligat near Cadaques or the Gala Dali Castle in Pubol. Cadaques itself, with its whitewashed houses and rocky bay, is one of the prettiest villages on the Costa Brava and shaped many of Dali s paintings. A full Dali triangle day takes in Figueres, Port Lligat and the surrounding landscape, with transport and timed entry handled for you.

Make Figueres easy: guided day trips from Girona include transport and skip-the-line entry.
