The Costa Brava from Girona

Coves, beaches and the coastal path

The Costa Brava begins just east of Girona, a coastline of pine-backed coves and clear water that is easy to reach for a day by the sea. The coastal path, the Cami de Ronda, links one cove to the next on foot, passing hidden beaches that bigger crowds never find. The water is calmest and warmest from late spring to early autumn, the same season when most boat trips and water activities run.

Tossa de Mar and boat trips

The medieval village of Tossa de Mar, with its walled old town rising straight from the beach, is the classic Costa Brava day from Girona and combines history with a swim. From the harbours along the coast you can join catamaran cruises with swimming stops, or guided kayak and snorkel tours that slip into sea caves the bigger boats cannot reach. Many trips include the gear and a guide, and several leave from points a short transfer from Girona.

Spend a day on the water: boat trips and kayak tours explore the coves of the Costa Brava.
